New Small Group Health Plan Comparison Tool
For more than a decade, CalCPA Health has maintained modest rate increases, but this year, multiple factors in the healthcare market are affecting all California health insurers.
Healthcare increases result from several converging factors rather than any single cause:
- Rising prescription drug costs, including new and costly GLP-1 weight-loss medications
- GLP-1 medications, such as Ozempic and Wegovy, have created unprecedented costs
- This single category of drugs is adding significant pressure across all health insurance carriers
- California continues to expand required coverage benefits and each mandate increases costs for all carriers
- Ongoing medical inflation driven by higher provider costs and utilization
What hasn’t changed: our commitment to delivering exceptional value and coverage to CalCPA member firms.
Founded in 1959 by the California Society of CPAs, CalCPA Health has been dedicated to providing high-quality, boutique-style health and benefit solutions tailored to the needs of CPAs and financial professionals. From medical and dental to vision, life, and long-term disability coverage, we offer comprehensive plans that prioritize stability, convenience, and peace of mind.

Key Drivers Behind the Increase
This year’s increase results from several converging factors rather than any single cause.
- Rising prescription drug costs, including new and costly GLP-1 weight-loss medications
- GLP-1 medications, such as Ozempic and Wegovy, have created unprecedented costs
- This single category of drugs is adding significant pressure across all health insurance carriers

CalCPA Health Open Enrollment
We serve CalCPA member firms, solo practitioners (no W-2 employees), and financial service firms—delivering trusted coverage tailored to the needs of the profession.
Open enrollment is the annual period when individuals can sign up for, change, or renew their health insurance coverage. During this window, you can review your plan options, add or drop dependents, and make updates to ensure your coverage fits your needs for the upcoming year. After open enrollment closes, changes are generally only allowed if you experience a qualifying life event, such as marriage, the birth of a child, divorce, or starting your own business.
New For 2026 – More Plan Options for Predictable Costs
To help members manage costs while maintaining quality coverage, we are introducing a suite of Alternative Health Plans (AHPs) through the Anthem Blue Cross network, powered by Coupe Health. These new plans are designed to make your healthcare simpler, more affordable, and more transparent.
With Anthem’s large provider network and Coupe Health’s easy-to-use tools, you’ll know your costs upfront, have more freedom to choose providers, and get personal guidance along the way.
Key Highlights
- Copay-only PPO plans with no deductibles or coinsurance on most plan designs (Two AHPs are HSA-compatible HDHPs, which do include a deductible)
-
A Health Valet for personal guidance to find care and navigate your benefits.
-
Upfront cost transparency via the Coupe Health app or member portal.
- Coupe Health’s tiered provider system (no Gatekeeper) for smarter, value-based choices:
-
Green = Best quality and lowest copays
-
Yellow = Moderate copays, good quality
-
Red = Higher copays, meeting minimum standards
-
Tiering helps you make informed choices about your healthcare. It’s all designed to help you take charge of your healthcare and become your own best advocate.
