Partner, Michael B. Allmon & Associates, LLP, CPAs
I believe my leadership experience enables me to significantly contribute towards the continued development and expansion of our health programs for the benefit of members of the California Society of CPAs, and their families.
CPA, A Professional Accountancy Corporation
Obtaining high quality, affordable health insurance is a significant challenge facing CalCPA member firms. As an insured and as an employer, I value the CalCPA Health plans offered by the Group Insurance Trust. In addition to a variety of health insurance plans, the Trust offers dental and vision coverage, and life and disability products. My experience as a practicing CPA in small firms, extensive volunteer participation in the profession, and service to the Trust since 2012, gives me insight into ways that the Trust can help CPA firms. I appreciate the opportunity to continue to support the Group Insurance Trust’s mission of providing quality health and welfare benefits to CalCPA member firms.
Board of Directors including: Mechanics Bank, Mercy Housing Inc. and Shasta Regional Community Foundation
Audit Committees for: Dignity Health and the Professional Accountants in Business Committee for the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC)
I have been a member of CalCPA since 1977 and a committed volunteer to our profession. My previous volunteer service includes the Board of Trustees of the California CPA Education Foundation from 2003-2009, with a role as Chair of the Board in 2007-2008. I also co-chaired the CalCPA Health Care Conference 2011-2015. My extensive career experience with VSP Vision Care in the health insurance field provides me with the credentials to combine this expertise with continuing service to our profession for the Group Insurance Trust.
Director, CAMICO Mutual Insurance Co. ROI Assistance
I believe my prior experience as a member of the predecessor Administrative Committee of the Group Insurance Trust and my current responsibility as a board member of CAMICO Mutual Insurance Co. enables me to significantly contribute towards the continued development and expansion of our health program for the benefit of members of the California Society of CPAs.
Sole Practitioner
I have served the Society in a number of roles, including serving as its 1993/94 Chair, serving as a Trustee is a continuation of my desire to actively benefit our profession. As the Current Chair of the Board of Trustees and having served as both the Chairman of the Audit Committee and as a member of the Finance and Investment Committee, I feel that I can continue to make a contribution to the Trust which will benefit all participants.
McDonald Accountancy, Inc.
As the significance of health care coverage and benefits continues to rise, Plan options and opportunities become more of an issue to California Society members’. I have been a member of the Plan for more than twenty years both in a medium size firm and in a small size firm environment. I have also been fortunate enough to have served as a Committee member for the Trust. My experience with the Plan as a consumer and my enthusiasm for providing members’ the best alternatives available provides me with the tools necessary to help contribute to the continued success and viability of CalCPA’s program.
Consultant/Investor Board of Trustees of the Contra Costa Employees’ Retirement Association
In my two previous careers I served as both an employee benefits consultant and as the first executive director of the Group Insurance Trust. I believe that both of those long term roles, together with my accounting, actuarial and tax background have been, and will continue to be, of significant value in meeting my responsibilities as a member of the Board of Trustees.
CEO, CAMICO Mutual Insurance Co.
As member of the CAMICO staff, I have participated in the Trust medical plans throughout my tenure and I am very familiar with the product offerings as an employer. I am currently active with AICPA council and CalCPA board as well as many other state societies which gives me unique insight to their various product offerings particularly as it relates to insurance. I bring my product knowledge and CPA profession experience to the Trust’s decision making process.
CPA
It is currently a very interesting as well as uncertain period of time for health care. Having the opportunity to assist the Group Insurance Trust through this period would be a privilege and will also give me an opportunity to give back to my profession as well as gain important knowledge on the ground floor which will further allow me to assist clients and others to understand the new paradigm of health care.
Partner, Thomas & Thomas
I have served the Society in a number of roles, including Chair of the State PFP Committee from 2003 – 2006, Council member at large and currently a member of the investment subcommittee of the Finance Committee. Serving as a trustee of the Group Insurance Trust is a continuation of my desire to actively benefit our profession and gain additional experience within CalCPA.
Retired
My many years as a member of the Members’ Insurance and Benefit Plan Committee and significant tenure as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Group Insurance Trust are indicative of my intense interest in providing valuable benefits to the members of CALCPA. I derive great personal satisfaction from providing my expertise to the profession that has provided me, my family and my firm with many benefits. Service as a trustee to the organization that I have helped to build is a logical extension of my commitment. I believe that the Trust will benefit from my experience and knowledge including my recent service as chair of the claims and plan design committee. We need to anticipate the future when demographics will change and health care and insurance may be delivered in a different manner from today. I hope to be a part of the leadership that deals with these challenges while continuing to provide cost effective services to CALCPA members.
